Hey — it's Rames

Just returned from a delightful little weekend in the mountains of Andalucia. Visited several lovely cities: Ronda, Jimena de la Frontera, and Gaucín. The trip was filled with plenty of food and drinks, dips in cool rivers, city tours, and reading under the sun.

These weekend getaways always feel timeless.

And before we begin... This week's sponsor...

3 Tips

1/ Responsive Design

Notion's gallery view is now responsive! No more side scrolling to find your items 😅

PS: This works with the master database only, not linked views.

2/ Turn any PDF into a Notion page

Notion just added a PDF importer to its list of apps and files from which to import data. I've tested it, and it worked great for all my files!

  1. Open a new blank page or go to your “Settings & Members”

  2. Select “Import”

  3. Select “PDF”

PS: it doesn’t add the PDF to Notion, but transforms the PDF into a Notion page.

3/ Floating table of contents

Here's a quick tip to create a floating element in Notion's narrow-width view: add three columns, and drag the column bars to widen them :)

This is a super useful workaround for the table of contents and many other things! It's your time to be creative now 🎨

2 Resources

1/ Notion Backlinks Explained

Ever felt backlinks were too mysterious for you? Well, I've put together a simple guide that helps you understand:

  • what a backlink in Notion is

  • how to create, add, & delete backlinks

  • how to visualize your backlinks (à la Obsidian)

2/ Notion makes the cover of Forbes

I love when my little hobby/work gets down to the real world. Notion’s CEO, Ivan Zhao, made the front cover of Forbes magazine.

Notion’s CEO and founder sees a rare opening to break Microsoft and Google’s dominance in the workplace by going all in on AI.

Although Notion AI is not my favorite AI tool (yet), I’m quite bullish on the Notion team being able to make real improvements. As I work most of my day in Notion, having a great AI assistant directly in my workspace will be a game-changer.
